- Daphne Odjig was whelped in the Wikwemikong Reservation cartel Manitoulin Island in 1919.
Span member of the Huron forward the Odawa First Nations communities, Odjig began painting as well-ordered little girl with her pa and grandfather. Describing herself since too 'impatient' for oils, Odjig works most often in acrylics where she can execute fake as quickly as she throng together envision. Odjig achieved recognition counter the 1960s through her illustrations for "Tales from the Smokehouse" and a first solo display in 1967.
